TNReady is nearly upon us—parents should have received some literature from SCORE regarding the test last week. Additionally, this week’s Soaring Summary includes information on the test and windows in which students will be tested by subject and grade.

Remember as we move through this process for the first time that TNReady is a different test than we have done in the past. Rather than going into ‘test mode’ for a week or so as we did back in the TCAP days, tests will be going on throughout February with fewer students testing each day. On the one hand this is to schedule so that each learner has access to a computer terminal which is required for the test. On the other hand, it will alleviate some testing fatigue—in the old days, the third and fourth days of big tests were rough—hopefully, this new model will give each subject a more fair shake.

In closing, please recall to talk over the p’s with your children: perseverance, peace, and perspective. We want to keep on keeping on, keep ourselves calm and unstressed, and hold in mind that, as important as this initial testing is, it is still one test at one time in our school careers. Work hard and do your best…but don’t panic!

Here's to Part 1!
